Fleming Culinary Council

Mission Statement

Fleming Culinary Council is a professional team of student representatives that aid fellow Culinary students in meeting their learning objectives.

The Fleming Culinary Council acts as an advisory council to the faculty, aiding in the decision making process for the Culinary Department.

FCC Role Descriptions

Chair

As Chair of the Fleming Culinary Council, this member will be a student Liaison to the Culinary Faculty Team. This role will also entail aiding and ensuring that all FCC materials and objectives are understood, developed and met in a professional and creative manner. The Chair is also responsible for helping to train the First Year Co-Chair.

Co-Chair

The Co-Chair of the Fleming Culinary Council is responsible for any tasks and or responsibilities that cannot be met by the acting Chair person. It is also their duty to complete any tasks that have been delegated to this position by fellow FCC members. They are responsible for running any meetings that the Chair cannot attend. The Co-Chair is also responsible for helping to train the First Year Co-Chair.

First Year Co-Chair

The First Year Co-Chair of the Fleming Culinary Council is responsible for shadowing under the Chair and Co-Chair, to learn the proper procedures necessary to run the council in the year following. They will also assist in running any meetings that the Chair cannot attend.

Administrative Assistant

The Administrative Assistant of the Fleming Culinary Council will be taking minutes at every meeting and sending them out to the Human Resources Liaison, who will forward them to all applicable persons. Along with this position, the Administrative Assistant will be helping to keep the Chair and Vice Chair organized and on track, as well as training the First Year Administrative Assistant to hold this position in the year following.

First Year Administrative Assistant

The First Year Administrative Assistant of the Fleming Culinary Council will be shadowing under the Administrative Assistant at every meeting to train to take over the position in the year following. Along with this position, the First Year Administrative Assistant will be helping to keep the Chair and Vice Chair organized and on track.

Human Resources Liaison

As the Human Resources Liaison for the Fleming Culinary Council, this person will be a voice for all Culinary Students. Their duties will include recruiting class representatives to be a part of the weekly FCC meetings, and will also be helping out with the recruiting of staff for any Fulford’s events or Special Functions. They will also be involved in Communications, keeping all CM4’s, class representatives, and all Chefs aware of what is happening in the FCC.

Special Events Co-ordinator

The Special Events Co-ordinator will be a very active member of the Fleming Culinary Council. This member will be in charge of organizing any social events for Culinary students and helping to organize things such as fundraisers. This member will also be involved in communications i.e., sending out thank you’s to special guests etc. The Specail Events Co-ordinator will be working closely along side the Human Resources Liason.

Web Coordinator

The Web Coordinator of the Fleming Culinary Council will be responsible for keeping the website up to date. They will have a committee underneath them, comprised of volunteering culinary students, who will assist them in their duties. This position will also be responsible for collecting any culinary photos that can be used and posted on the website. As well, they will be training the First Year Web Coordinator to take over their position in the year following.

First Year Web Coordinator

The First Year Web Coordinator of the Fleming Culinary Council will be responsible for assisting the Web Coordinator in keeping the website up to date. They will be shadowing under the Web Coordinator to take over their position in the year following, and learn how to keep updating the website.

Chef Mentor to the FCC

The Chef Mentors Role on the FCC will be to help all members to follow proper agenda and meeting procedures. They will be a mentor to the council helping to make important decisions and they will also bring to the meeting any matters that they feel need to be discussed. The Chef Mentor will aid all FCC members through this important learning experience.

Class/Team Representatives

Class representatives connect their classmates with the Fleming Culinary Council and the rest of the culinary program. They act as a voice and as support to help enhance the experience of their peers as they move though their college career. Representatives will be approachable and willing to help out.
